In a previous entry you could read that we have discussed Elvis in 6th grade. This time we talked about British celebrities! We started off by working with a work sheet, and then they got to choose any British celebrity to present next week.
Homework for Friday's lesson is to find out information about a British celebrity of your own choice (from the work sheet or not), so that you can quickly (half the lesson) finish the presentation.

Essays and grades

I end this work week by reading some fun essays written by the 7th graders! It is not our first essay, so they already know what is expected from them. Having your essays, and other projects, graded is not always necessary - but it can also be a good tool to help you know where in the learning process you are. Especially combined with a comment on what you did good, and what you can perhaps improve...
In order to make it fair (and easier) I have a explicit table to guide me when I am grading. This table does not only take into account language, but also contents - why I think it is very good! Some pupils have a vivid imagination, but perhaps expressing yourself is not always so easy. I use this table for all my classes in the upper level (7th - 9th grade). This is not news, it can be found in all the classroom.
If you want to take a look at it at home, you can now also find it here. No system is perfect, but this is how I do things... In the same document you can also find what is taken into account for the overall grade.
Elvis & regular verbs (en6)
On Tuesday we did a small test in class 6 (online) to check that we now know how to use regular verbs in English in all tenses! If you missed it - or you noticed you need to practise a bit more, here are a few exercises for you:
Exercise 1
Exercise 2
Exercise 3
We also started talking about Elvis. Your homework for Thursday is to read the text about Elvis in the textbook (page 32-33). Here's a video to get you in the mood ;)
